Why Hikmah

Designed for where you actually are

Most financial education is aimed at people in their twenties or at professionals managing large portfolios. Hikmah was built for a different stage of life.

No unnecessary hurry

Sessions are spaced so that what you hear in one week can settle before the next topic arrives. There is no pressure to decide anything during the programme.

Singapore-specific content

Every example, every product and every regulation discussed relates to the Singapore household. CPF, HDB considerations, SRS accounts and Singapore Savings Bonds — not generic international frameworks.

Small groups by design

The investment course caps enrolment at twenty. Two facilitators attend each session so that questions receive a considered answer rather than being deferred to another time.

Plain written materials

Reading materials are available as printable PDFs for those who prefer paper. Nothing is locked behind an app or a login that expires.

No product sales

Hikmah does not sell investment products or receive referral fees. The programmes exist solely to help participants understand their options more clearly.

Household-level thinking

Financial decisions at this stage of life affect the entire household. Hikmah addresses the family dimension of money — including conversations that many families find difficult to begin.

A quiet first step

You do not need to have everything figured out before you reach out

Write to us with a question, describe where your household stands, or simply ask which programme might suit your situation. There is no obligation attached to the conversation.

Questions

Things people often ask

If your question is not here, we are happy to answer it by email or phone — no commitment needed.

Do I need any financial background to join a course?
No prior knowledge is assumed in any Hikmah programme. The five-week introduction is designed specifically for people who have not thought carefully about their finances before, or who would like to start over with clearer terminology. The nine-week course moves further but still begins from first principles.
Are the sessions held in person or online?
Group courses are held at our office at 28 Cross Street, with a recording made available the morning after each evening session. The Family Conversations Track is held wherever the household is most comfortable — this may be at our office, at home, or at another private location.
What if I miss a session?
All group sessions are recorded. The recording is released the following morning and remains available for the duration of the programme. Reading materials cover the same ground as the sessions, so catching up is straightforward.
Does Hikmah recommend specific investments or advisers?
Hikmah is an education provider only. We do not sell financial products, manage money, receive commissions or direct participants to specific advisers. Our role is to help you understand your options clearly enough to ask better questions of whoever you eventually choose to work with.
Can my spouse or partner join with me?
Yes. For group courses, each participant registers separately. The Family Conversations Track is designed from the outset to include couples or other household members — it proceeds at the pace that suits the pair, not a fixed schedule.
How do I pay and what is the refund policy?
Payment details are sent after a place is confirmed. We accept bank transfer and PayNow. If you need to withdraw more than seven days before the programme begins, a full refund is issued. Within seven days, we ask that you consider transferring your place to another person — please contact us to discuss your situation.
How is my personal information handled?
Information shared during sessions — particularly in the private Family Conversations Track — is treated with strict discretion. Contact details are not shared with third parties. You can read the full details in our Privacy Policy.
